Obituary

On Tuesday, September 24, 2019, Carrie Newkirk (Riddle) of Englewood, OH, loving mother of two sons, peacefully passed away at age 81.

Carrie was born on July 1, 1938 in Peoria, IL to Haskell and Dorothy (Putterbaugh) Hull. She was a 1957 graduate of Fairmont High School. She married Donald D. Riddle, and raised two sons, Drew (Andy) and Brian. She later remarried Billie Newkirk of Vandalia, OH.

Carrieā€™s real passion in life was for animals of all kinds, but especially dogs and cats. She was a member of the Dayton Kennel Club and American Kennel Club, and owner of Torma Kennels on Little York Road. She enjoyed breeding and showing several different breeds of dogs, including the Lhasa Apso, West Highland White Terrier, and her beloved Bearded Collies. She, too, enjoyed cats, and always had a furry companion by her side. She was known for her quick wit, feisty character, and her untiring love for her family.

Carrie was preceded in death by her father, Haskell, her mother, Dorothy, and her second husband, Billie. She is survived by her two children, Drew Riddle and his wife, Nadine, of Jacksonville, FL, and Brian Riddle of Dublin, OH, her sister, Janet Stahl of Clayton, OH, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

We do know that there are many tails wagging in heaven this week as they greet their newest arrival. Honor her if you will by petting your pooch, cuddling your kitty, or talking to your bird, because she was a friend to all! If you are inclined, make a donation to your local Humane Society in lieu of flowers.

Mom was a bit untraditional, so we think she would like knowing that we celebrate her with the sharing of pizza and beer. Family and friends are welcome to join us at Marions Piazza at the Traffic Circle on Thursday from 6 to 9 PM.
