I was always remember Al's good, kind happy smile and laugh. He was always good to me while I was going to UD and while teaching in the Dayton Schools, by allowing me to work at Lyons Electric on Saturday mornings, summers, and even taking inventory during Christmas break. I will always remember he and Rita coming to our wedding at St. Joe, and the night he took us to his home during a winter storm, and he sat and had a drink and a bowl of chilil with him and Rita and the kids. I forget the circumstances, but he was such a kind and caring man, not just a boss. Joyce use to complain about stanping "Lyons Electric" on all those match books; a project given to her by Al's dad, Charles, and Al would just laugh. I also remember the summer his dad had me cleaning and painting one of those apartments on North Main. It was quite an experience with your grandpa. I will always remember his trying to get me to scrape the outside white wood siding and trying to get me to "feather" the bare spots. I do not think I ever mastered the "feathering." it was that summer i go to meet and talk with the Grieshops who ran the radiator shop on North Main. if I ever said anything to Al, he would just laugh. Al could have been a bitter person after the loss of his daughter,Carol, and his wife Rita, but he always kept that happy and kind attitude. All of his children have done well, and I just smile when I see Tom sitting in his dad's office, and Ken at the counter and Jane in the lighting department. What a legacy all his children are for him. Al was one not to forget. Please honor him by carrying on his kindness and happiness. Hank Schwieterman

My husband and I both worked at Lyons Electric. I have worked several places in my life, and I will have to say, he definitely was the best boss I ever had. He was kind, considerate, understanding and most of all caring. I respected him in all aspects of life. He was always a very fair man.. I have so many, many fond memories of my days at Lyons Electric. I moved away from Dayton and yet Al and I remained friends. Rest in peace my dear friend!
