Obituary

ZUGELDER, Diane K, passed away April 25, 2020 as a result from cancer. She was born on October 17, 1954 and was the daughter of Gene and Kathleen Gepfrey. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Mark Zugelder. Among those who are deeply saddened by her early departure and yet find consolation in the cherished memories she shared with them are her beloved daughter Erin Zugelder; her brothers Gary Gepfrey, Larry Gepfrey, Dale Gepfrey and sister Renee Ghiloni (Gepfrey); and all of her treasured relatives and friends. Diane graduated from Julienne High School in 1973 and went on to work at Good Samaritan Hospital for most of her career. However, Diane would have defined herself not by her work but by the way she treated others, the love she had for her family and friends, and being the captain of her own ship. She is remembered as a fiercely independent woman who I was lucky enough to call “Mom”; neither of us were, or are, perfect, but we were perfect for each other. In light of ongoing events, the family will not hold a memorial service at this time. Once it is safe for everyone to travel and gather together, the family will have a mass in Diane’s honor. In lieu of flowers or donations I ask you to give a little more love than usual to those in your life - an extra hug or kiss or phone call - so they know you love them with your whole heart and soul, as my mom loved me.

Diane ALWAYS greeted people with a wonderful smile and a welcoming greeting. She was delightful! You just couldn't help but like her. I am so sorry Erin, Garry, Larry, Dale, and Rene for your loss. We lived across the street from the Gepfreys and have many wonderful memories of such a fine family.

Erin I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I knew the Gepfrey family thru Corpus Christi and got to know her more at Queen of Martyrs with you and Chad being class mates and of course Good Sam. Prayers to you and the family

I am so sorry for your loss. I graduated with Diane from Julienne. I worked at Good Sam for many years. She was a friend and someone I delighted in talking with at the hospital. I looked forward to seeing her at our high school reunions. She never aged. She was genuine and caring. She was truly a good and beautiful person. May she Rest In Peace.
