Obituary

MAGA, Dominic Joseph “Dom” D.O. age 73 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at his home. Survived by his wife of 31 years Lisa, 3 daughters Jennifer (Rodger) Felten, Elizabeth (Brian) Ziegenbusch, Danielle Maga, 2 sons Dominic (Caty), Sean, and 8 grandchildren.
Dominic was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on the 14th of July, 1946 to Dominic John and Helen. He graduated high school in Cleveland at Benedictine High School. He then earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Dayton and then went onto medical school at the University of Iowa Des Moines. He moved back to Dayton, Ohio, for his residency at Grandview Medical Center, specializing in Internal Medicine. He permanently transplanted to Dayton, OH where he held a private practice through Grandview Medical Center in Internal Medicine. In 1992, Dominic made a major change, and started moonlighting as an Emergency Room Doctor, he was instantly hooked. Eventually he left his private practice and began exclusively working in the Emergency Room. He started working as an ER physician at Grandview and Southview, added Coldwater, Grant Medical Center, Washington Courthouse, Bellefountaine, and most recently he worked in Connorsville in Indiana. Up until 3 weeks before his passing, he was still working one 12 hour shift a week in the ER in Connorsville. On top of all of the hours spent in the ER and with his private practice, he still managed to perform physicals at UD for student athletes. He continued to be mentor and teacher to many residents and interns throughout the years in his career.

He loved football, he even played in High School. He supported his UD Flyers, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He was also an avid Cleveland Browns fan.

Dominic loved, everyone, so much that he got married 3 times. He has stayed close with all of his ex-wives. Most of all, he loved his family. He loved being a husband, a father, and especially a Grandfather (Kendall 16, Caleb 13, Katelyn 10, Mathias 8, Austin 7, Delaney 4, Faith 2, Cecilia 2, and one more on the way).

Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 5th, 2019 at Precious Blood Catholic Church 4961 Salem Ave. Dayton, OH 45416 by Father James Seibert C.PP.S. Interment Calvary Cemetery. I am not sure what to say or how to word it. Dominic will be missed by so many he dedicated his life to helping others stay healthy. But in the end cancer took his life. He worked so hard but still managed to have lots of time for family. He always had a smile on his face and would always answer any questions I had about my own health. I know that the cancer caused him so much pain but until the end he wouldnt take anything for pain. Now he is in heaven living pain free and smiling down on us. I will miss you.

Dominic was the best friend of my father, Howard Nease. He was also a close friend to our entire family. His great humor and kindness was not lost on any of us that knew him. He honored our family and my father when he spoke at my father's funeral. He was one of the few people who immediately made the room better just by walking in. May the healing hand of God comfort the entire Maga family. I know my Father, as well as our Heavenly Father welcomed Dominic with open arms. We all love you Dom..and we will miss you.
