Obituary

STEKLI, John L. Sr. age 88 of Dayton, died Monday, March 23, 2020. He was born April 4, 1931 in Dayton to the late John and Anna (Muha) Stekli. Preceded in death by a sister Irene Spilker, brother Joseph Stekli, and granddaughter Nicole Marie Barker. Survived by his wife of 72 years Rose Mary (Petrosky) Stekli, 3 daughters Beverly Stekli of Dayton, Donna Stekli and Lemuel Burnett of West Virginia, Kathryn Ann “Tootie” and Rodney Barker of Union, son John Stekli Jr of Dayton, and granddaughter Jordan A. Barker and her fiancé Matthew Courts of Batavia, OH special nephew James Hardy and niece Barbara Tofstad, and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends and John’s special beloved keeshond companions, Chase, Jenna, Stacee and Satine. John graduated from Stivers High School and joined the Navy, where he served on the USS Midway Aircraft carrier. He retired from DESC after 32 years of service. John was a longtime member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church. A Private Mass will be held at the family’s convenience. Private Interment Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Ohio Hospice of Dayton or the Dayton Humane Society in John’s memory.
