Lucy Cecilia Grandillo, 92 of Dayton passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019. She was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on May 23, 1926 to Pasquale and Anna (Miaocco) DeLuca. Her family moved to Steubenville, Ohio where she graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central and attended the College of Steubenville. Later, she attended Sinclair Community College.

In 1956, Lucy married Anthony D. Grandillo and they lived in Cleveland until moving Dayton in 1963. She was a faithful member of St. Rita Catholic Church for 55 years where she was a devoted volunteer, helping in the school cafeteria for more than 25 years. She was a proud Italian-American who was known for her hospitality, generosity and kindness. She loved sports and enjoyed following her teams and family members as they competed. She had a keen desire to fight social injustice and was active in those movements beginning in the 1960s.
She will be sadly missed by her sons Michael (Nancy) of Northville, MI and Tiffin and John of Upper Sandusky; grandchildren Vincent of Tiffin and Cleveland and Gina of Dayton and Tiffin; a brother Patsy of Steubenville and faithful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, a brother Felix; her husband Tony of 35 years; a devoted son Thomas (Thom).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 6th at St. Rita Catholic Church, 5401 N. Main Street, with Father Timothy Knepper, C.PP.S. presiding. The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM at the Church, and one hour prior to Mass. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Madonna University Welcome Center Fund or the Anthony and Lucy Grandillo Scholarship Fund at Tiffin University in Lucy’s memory.
