Obituary

SOKOLNICKI, Mary L. (Meyers-Kuntz) age 64, of Dayton, went home to be with Our Lord on Saturday, January 5, 2019 with her family by her side.

Mary is preceded in death by her first husband John F. Kuntz Jr, her mother Edith Gnau Meyers, her brother Joseph C. Meyers III and her grandson Lucas.

She is survived by her loving husband Henry R. Sokolnicki, her children, John F. Kuntz III (Sarah), Lisa Barhorst (Michael), Kevin Kuntz (Jennifer), Amy Hogan (Shannon), Sarah Kuntz (Chris Martin) and her step-children Andrew and Daniel Sokolnicki and Amanda Hensler (Zach).


She is also survived by her father Joseph C. Meyers Jr (Bonnie) and her 7 siblings, Greg, Ann, Jane (Hovey), Rita (Hess), Margie (Kauth), Becky (Gonter-Dray), and Karen (Lackey), 15 grandchildren, Chumani, Darian, Alyssa, Mary Katherine, Cadence, Sophia, Calista, Liam, Catori, Maggie, Eliot, Beau, Bailey, Riley and Piper, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Mary was born on August 21, 1954 in Dayton. She graduated from Julienne High School in 1971 and then went on to earn her Nursing Degree from St. Elizabeth Medical Center School of Nursing. She maintained her license for nearly 45 years and served as a nurse in various capacities. She touched many people’s lives throughout her career, especially those students at Miami Valley CTC. Mary was an active member at Our Lady of Mercy Church and she loved to spend her summers at Sherwood Forest Swim Club. Her other interests included gardening, reading, traveling and sewing. She will be greatly missed!

Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019 at Our Lady of (Mercy) Grace Catholic Church 220 W. Siebenthaler Ave. Dayton by Father Ted Sill. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home 5555 Philadelphia Dr. at N. Main St. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Dayton.
