I had the privilege of working with Shirley at the Dayton Daily News. As my assistant she was my right arm and day in and day out she made me look better than I deserved. She had friends throughout the company and was an invaluable source of information for me. Mostly, though, she was a good person who loved her family and cared deeply about her fellow workers. I loved working with her.. Brad Tillson

Shirley is loved by many and will be missed tremendously. She was an inspiration to all of us. One of my fondest memories was Christmas Eves at Ron and Shirley's house. Shirley always made it so special. She would start cooking and baking days in advance and Oh the Fudge. She must have made 10 lbs. of it as she always sent some home with everyone. The house would be decorated from one end to the other, Christmas trees, Santas and table decorations. It was always beautiful. Her love of Family shined at its brightest. We shared very special family time. That Shirl-Girl (as Ron so often called her) was one very special lady. She leaves us with so many very special memories. We love you Shirley, Rest in Peace.
