THOMPSON, Shirley L. age 89 of Dayton, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019. She was born in Dayton on June 7, 1929. Shirley managed food service in the Dayton Public Schools for over 15 years. She was very active and Past Commander of the Ladies Auxiliary at the American Legion #613 on Salem Ave. Preceded in death by her parents Frank and Maude (Naher) McCrossen. She is survived by 3 sons Bill and his wife Robin Thompson of Xenia, Jim and his wife Nancy Thompson of Butler Twp., Larry and his wife Angela Thompson of Germantown, a daughter Kay and her husband Lee Bowden of Virginia Beach, VA, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley had many friends and was loved by all. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2019 at Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home 5555 Philadelphia Dr. at N. Main St. by Pastor Mike Yingst. The family will receive friends 12 noon Friday until time of services. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Brookhaven and Hospice nurse Tonya. Bill, Jim, Larry, and Kay, I was very sorry to hear the sad news about your mother. I remember her fondly from my years growing up on Foxboro Drive. She was one of the great moms on a street of great moms!
